Sydney was first diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when she was 3 years old. Since then, she has moved to the Hilton Head area of South Carolina right before her sophomore year and is being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and continues to use Peptamen products going on 13 years now to keep her in remission! Sydney has been doing great and is now a tall 5’7” junior in high school and a healthy weight and continues to use Peptamen 1.5 with Prebio! She recently got her driver’s license and is enjoying the freedoms a car affords her. Crohn’s disease has not stopped her from enjoying various activities; she loves playing tennis and has been on her high school varsity tennis team for the last 3 years, and also teaches tennis to young kids. She is the VP of HOSA, an organization for future healthcare professionals, and received the mayor’s award for her numerous volunteer hours. She plans to pursue a nursing degree once she graduates from high school. She wants to work at a Children’s Hospital on the IBD floor because she can relate to those patients and talk to them about her experiences in the hospital and at outpatient care.
Sydney, thank you for sharing your story. Your passion to help others in your future career is inspiring, and hope to continue to share your Peptamen story with others!

Sydney is part of the Nestlé Health Science Patient Connections Program where patients share their stories to inspire and remind us why we do what we do -- provide valuable, complete nutrition to the patients we serve. In appreciation for a patient’s participation, Nestlé Health Science donates to a nonprofit organization in the patient’s honor of his/her choosing. Prior to COVID, live programs were conducted at a Nestlé Health Science facility and patients received reimbursement for travel, lodging and food.
